Burke's Seafood is a family owned and operated Mom & Pop Seafood shop patronized by numerous North Quincy locals that has been open in the neighborhood for 30 years without changing hands. Owners Dick & Margaret Burke run the operation and greet their customers by name. Dick buys whole, fresh fish daily and fillets the catch by hand for retail sale in their fishmonger capacity. They have salmon, tuna, haddock, scallops, and loads of fresh, live lobsters. Margaret oversees the kitchen, where they serve cooked seafood dishes, including New England favorites like steamed lobster and their hand made stuffed quahogs. They also make their own delicious clam chowder, and serve a host of fried seafood offerings, from clams to scallops to fish & chips. Family combo platters combining their various offerings are also available, as is their Lobster Boil in a Can. As of spring 2009, Burke's is set to increase its seating capacity substantially as it takes over a vacant space next door. This will allow for up to 19 diners to eat inside the establishment. During seasonable weather, they also offer some outdoor seating. Forthcoming promotions for this expansion and their 30th anniversary in business will be announced soon.

Designed to showcase the work of local painters, scultors and poets, 303 Cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with vegan offerings as well as Columbian-inspired musts like their authentic empanada ($3) and pastelle ($4) coupled with a tasty chorizo-encrusted salmon ($13) and a yummy blood orange chicken picatta ($13.50). 303 Cafe is a beacon of light that should re-energize East Boston's dining scene.

Chain mail curtains and stepped tables evoke multiple rooms in the Beaux-Arts marble hall of the Old Colony Bank. Tip: Gentlemen, the urinals are disguised as ice machines. Om is a Harvard Square restaurant headed by New York and Providence chef Rachel Klein, who was named Best New Chef by Boston magazine in 2006. Chef Klein challenges her customers with innovative recipes and fresh and funky ingredients. Try Om for a shot of Zen in your dining experience. This place featuresover-the-top Zen luxury decor, a wall-ter fall, fancypants cocktails, and a whimisical bar menu. There are 2 floors to this place, the 1st floor is the dance floor which is pretty small. The 2nd floor is more of just a lounge. They only have single bathrooms, so the lines can be quite long, even for guys. However, don't get stuck in line - there are two sets of bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Deb Klein is no longer the chef and the cuisine last time I was there was disappointing and ordinary. The drinks are still good if you don't mind the NYC prices.
