It's got an odd name, locals just call it "The Gate" but an Irish pub named for the way Guiness is moved in and out of the factory in Dublin can't be bad, right?
They've got Shepherd's Pie and Blood Pudding (which comes with the full Irish breakfast) or there's always the Bangers and Mash. Like the contemporary menus of pubs back in the old country, you can order curry sauce to dip your chips (fries) in. Being a JP establishment there's plenty for vegetarians to eat too. And the PEI mussels are simply the best thing EVER!
The ambiance is articulated by a long, centrally located, communal table in front of a fireplace - which roars throughout the cold winter months. In the warmer weather, there is a patio with shaded tables to eat al fresco. Trivia is played on Monday nights.

Co-owners Mel and Tom opened this East Boston gem using recycled salvaged product from the old building which was formerly the home of Aronson's Dry Goods. The duo successfully modernized the spot with solar lighting and heat while preserving the charm of the up-and-coming neighborhood. Designed to showcase the work of local painters, scultors and poets, 303 Cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with vegan offerings as well as Columbian-inspired musts like their authentic empanada ($3) and pastelle ($4) coupled with a tasty chorizo-encrusted salmon ($13) and a yummy blood orange chicken picatta ($13.50). 303 Cafe is a beacon of light that should re-energize East Boston's dining scene.

The dramatic ambience and fashionista crowd at Mantra almost overshadows the stunning French-Indian fusion cuisine served up my chef Thomas John but his classic culinary instincts and clever use of spices ultimately prevails at this fine-dining must where Boston’s Downtown Crossing and Theatre District intersect. The décor is breathtaking. This former bank from the 1800s has been transformed into an avant-garde masterpiece with its Italian marble walls and floors, halogen lights and saffron-colored silk drapery that makes seem like an experiential journey of the senses. Chain mail curtains and stepped tables evoke multiple rooms in the Beaux-Arts marble hall of the Old Colony Bank. Tip: Gentlemen, the urinals are disguised as ice machines. Ladies, your privacy is secure: the glass is one-way.

Om is a Harvard Square restaurant headed by New York and Providence chef Rachel Klein, who was named Best New Chef by Boston magazine in 2006. Chef Klein challenges her customers with innovative recipes and fresh and funky ingredients. Try Om for a shot of Zen in your dining experience. This place featuresover-the-top Zen luxury decor, a wall-ter fall, fancypants cocktails, and a whimisical bar menu. There are 2 floors to this place, the 1st floor is the dance floor which is pretty small. The 2nd floor is more of just a lounge. They only have single bathrooms, so the lines can be quite long, even for guys. However, don't get stuck in line - there are two sets of bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Deb Klein is no longer the chef and the cuisine last time I was there was disappointing and ordinary. The drinks are still good if you don't mind the NYC prices.

A Quincy restaurant Bar/Lounge with a distinctive Boston feel. Open 6 days a week for lunch and dinner, the Jury Room serves classic American fare with a twist. The restaurant has 2 distinctive rooms with different looks and feels. One side is more of a tavern feel serving inexpensive pub fare while the other serves more sophisticated dishes. Either part of the restaurant can have the full menu available. The Jury Room offers either live music or a DJ three nights a week fom Wed- Thur Sat. Offering extensive wine, scotch, and beer lists, the space is available to be rented out for private affairs large or small.
The Jury Room is a 2,00 sqaure foot, 99 seat restaurant in Quincy in clear view of the Court House to which it owes its name. The restaurant has a legal theme, and serves steaks, pastas, and other classic American. The bar area features a seperate pub menu, but patrons may order from either menu in the bar or seating areas.

A location of a small chain that specializes in upscale desserts, but also serves light lunches and dinners. There are branches in Boston's Theatre District, Harvard Square in Cambridge and Coolidge Corner in Brookline. ^[2]

Mela comes to us from the One World Cuisine team who also run Bukhara, Diva, Kashmir, Mantra, and Cafe of India. The lunch buffet is very reasonable for the area: $10 weekdays, $13 weekends. Mela is likely the only Indian restaurant in the South End, but a very welcome addition. The service is friendly to children, but expect tight spaces, no kid cups or kid menus and to emphasize "very very mild spices please"/ They will however store your stroller for you.

75 Chestnut went through a major renovation this past year. Long gone is the stuffy restaurant that you would go to with your grandparents. 75 Chestnut now has switched the entire restaurant to be a more open and upscale neighborhood tavern. A great place to go for just a drink, or one of the best burgers in town. This place is the baby of Tom Kershaw, owner of Cheers and the Hampshire House. Halloween fun: Friday October 31, 2008 Beginning at 5 pm and ending at last call, 75 Chestnut will be serving ghoulish drinks, and having a costume party for all of their patrons to attend.

Kingston Station is hidden away in a cross section of the Financial District, Chinatown, and the Leather District but it's worth checking out, it took the space of the old Peking Tom's. As for the atmosphere- the decor is understated and classy/ casual. White tiles, red leather booths, cafe tables. The music was a chill mixture of 80s to current, with live jazz being performed on the weekends from time to time. Is hopping as an after work watering hole, and busy on the weekends as well. Known as a great bar to rent out for special functions.
